Dr. Stuart J. Fischbein, MD

Keynote Speakers

Stuart J. Fischbein, MD is a community-based obstetrician and an Associate of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology, published author of the book “Fearless Pregnancy, Wisdom & Reassurance from a Doctor, A Midwife and A Mom” and peer-reviewed papers Homebirth with an Obstetrician, A Series of 135 Out of Hospital Births and Breech birth at home: outcomes of 60 breech and 109 cephalic planned home and birth center births. And his paper on twin homebirth is in prepublication.

After completing his residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA, Dr. Stu spent 24 years assisting women with hospital birthing and, for the last 13 years, has been a homebirth obstetrician who works directly with midwives.

Since retiring from attending home births in 2022, Dr. Stu has turned his focus to traveling around the world as a lecturer and advocate for reteaching breech & twin birth skills, respect for the normalcy of birth and honoring informed consent. He hosts a weekly podcast with co-host Blyss Young and together they offer hope, reassurance and safe, honest evidence supported choices for those women who understand pregnancy is a normal bodily function not to be feared.

Christina moved to Saint George, Utah in October of 2020 and feels so blessed to live in the most beautiful part of Utah. Christina has 5 kids with her amazing and supportive husband of 25 years. Her 5 kids range in ages from 24 down to 8 years old. She has 3 girls and 2 boys. Christina went to back to school to get her nursing degree when her 5th baby was tiny. It had always been her dream to become a nurse but stayed at home with her kids until that dream was something she just had to accomplish.

After she graduated in nursing, Christina began her career in med/surg. She learned such valuable skills and was thankful for that time, but her heart and soul were always pulling her to mom/baby and labor and delivery. Being a mom of 5 and having different experiences with each pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum she knew she could empower and support women.

There were times Christina felt lost and alone as she was having and raising her children and she wanted to make a difference for the women who feared becoming a new mom and needed extra love and support. While living in Lehi, Utah, Christina worked at a birth center as birth assistant helping moms through unmedicated births both at home and at the birth center. Christina also worked on mom/baby at both Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah and Saint George Regional Hospital. She loved her time there and spent many hours educating and uplifting women through postpartum care and breastfeeding. There was still an empty space in her heart and knew that labor and delivery was where she needed to go to be a light and carry women through their labor journey.

During Christina’s time on mom/baby she also advanced her degree and graduated with her Masters of Science in Nursing in December 2022. Her masters project led her to learn more about birth trauma, home birth transfers, and how to prevent or minimize birth trauma. Christina did not know then that her master’s degree and masters project would be the beginning of her passion for Simply Birth and Childbirth Education. She became the coordinator of Simply Birth in February 2024 and spent time working with providers, patients, nurses, and doulas to ensure that Simply Birth would be a place of comfort, full of support, by nurses and doctors for unmedicated and low intervention births.

Christina will accomplish her next big dream by becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife. She will begin her schooling for that in the Spring of 2025. With this next accomplishment she plans to continue to uplift, educate, support, and empower women in their pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum journeys. She is beyond grateful to share her passion for Simply Birth, Childbirth education, and a woman’s pregnancy and birth experience at the Southern Utah Birth Expo.
